Possessives

mijn, jouw, uw, zijn, haar never change before the noun. uw is the polite “your” and belongs with u — at work you will use it far more than jouw.

Numbers run backwards

Dutch says the small number first: eenentwintig is literally “one-and-twenty” — 21. Practise these by ear only; on paper you will read them right and still not hear them.
